Black spotted newt

Usually unnoticed by people, Black-spotted Newts are the only species of newts found in the ponds and marshes of southern Texas and Mexico. Permanent water can be hard to find in this arid landscape, leaving the newts especially vulnerable to pollution and habitat destruction.
