Rough-scaled python

Amphibians & Reptiles·Reptile

These Australian pythons have triangular shaped heads and light tan and dark brown markings that are believed to help with camouflage. This species has keeled scales, which means each scale has a central ridge which makes it rough to touch, hence the name Rough-scaled python. This added roughness makes it easier for them to climb trees and rocks and also holding on to prey.
