Cougar

North America·Mammal

The cougar is large in size with a powerful, slender build. Its long, cylindrical tail makes up for more than half of its total body length. The cougar is generally solitary and only joins another to mate. Kittens are born with a spotted coat to help them blend in with their surroundings. Once they are old enough to take care of themselves, usually around two years of age, the mother will discourage the young from staying with her and they venture off to form their own home ranges.
